mountain songs (2022)

originally created for an undergraduate poetry class, mountain songs is the previously unreleased predecessor to sea songs. the poems contained within this chapbook were written and edited while the poet resided in and around the the blue ridge mountains.

an ongoing experiment in poetic form, conlon mixes nature-themed free verse poetry with poetic forms like ottava rima, villanelle, pantoum, sonnet, ballad, and acrostic to craft a series of poems that begin to thaw in icy winter, bloom in the fertile spring, simmer in sultry summer, and smolder in the vibrant autumn.
